ROBERT FREEMAN

ROBERT FREEMAN has been a professional artist for 37 years. He has won over 200 art awards in oil painting, pen and ink drawing, sculpting and etching. In 2005 he finished a life-size bronze sculpture for a Catholic school in Capistrano, Ca. In the spring of 2003 he was an Artist in Residence at the University of San Diego. 2002 he created a commemorative Seal for the State of California that is imbedded on the Capitol steps in Sacramento. 2001 he had a one-man-show at the Riverside Museum. That same year the Smithsonian purchased two of his painting for thier collection. 1997 he created a life-size sculpture that is erected at Santa Fe Springs, Ca. In 1997 the University of Vermillion had a retrospective show that exhibited four decades of Freeman's art. The show traveled through the U.S. for two years. 1996 he was comissioned to paint several murals for Harrah's Casino. Freeman's work is also internationally recognized. In 1992 he exhibited in Yokahama, Japan as well as Germany and Senegal. His work has been exhibited at the Dept. of the Interior in Washington D.C.; Whitney Museum in Cody, Wyoming; The Heard Museum in Pheonix, Arizona; The Museum of Man in San Diego, Ca.; Gonzaga University, Spokane, Washington; Long Beach State, Long Beach,Ca.; and the University of Riverside, Riverside, Ca. His biography appears in the Who's Who in California; Who's Who in South Dakota; Who's Who in America; International Who's Who; Encyclopedia of the American Indian; Indians of North America; Contemporary Personages(Italy); Man of Achievement; and Printworld Contemporary Prints and Prices. In 1984 he painted a mural for L.A. County Library in San Gabriel, Ca. That same decade he painted several murals for the Perris Museum, Perris, Ca. The artist is also a lecturer, teacher, and author. He has written and illustrated three joke books titled For Indians Only, War Whoops And All That Jazz, and Rubber Arrows.
